Does the Home Phone replace my existing traditional Phone?
Yes. CCI Wireless phone service can replace your existing home phone. Our home phone service provides you all the existing features you are accustomed to plus new features only available through the new technology being deployed.
Does CCI Wireless phone service require Telus' facilities to operate?
No. The service operates on the 4G WiMAX wireless frequency and has no dependencies on other phone company's local facilities.
Can I keep my existing phone number?
Depending on your area, you may retain your existing number and transfer it to your new CCI Wireless service. Not all areas within Alberta have local number portability however we continue to expand the areas. To determine if your area qualifies or the timing, please call CCI Wireless at 1-888-240-2224 and speak to one of our customer care representatives.
Do I need additional equipment? Will my existing telephone be compatible?
There is no need for additional equipment. The current Customer Premise Equipment (CPE) that was installed for your internet access, comes with built in phone capabilities eliminating the need for any additional hardware. Your existing telephone, fax machine and in house wiring will be compatible with CCI Wireless Home Phone service.
What is the quality of the phone?
CCI Wireless deploys the latest technology utilizing Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). The 4G WiMAX wireless access is utilized to carry the voice traffic. Unlike other VoIP providers, CCI Wireless has deployed technology with the ability to prioritize voice conversations to ensure maximum voice clarity is achieved. The technology is built into the customer premise equipment (CPE) devices utilized for CCI Wireless Internet Service.
Do I have to pay extra for the calling features?
No! We include all the calling features and voicemail as part of your Home Phone low monthly rate. Here are some of the features you will enjoy for free: Voicemail, Voicemail to email, Caller ID, Call Forward, Withhold Number, Sim Ring, Call Rejection and Call Blocking
Do I still have E911 and 411 capabilities?
The service provides 411 and basic 911 services. For more details on the differences between Enhanced 911 and Basic 911 services, please refer to our 911 & VOIP Terms and Conditions for a comprehensive explanation. It is imperative customers acknowledge that they read the 911 terms and conditions prior to subscribing to the service.
Is service disrupted during power outages?
If power outages are frequent and lengthy, we recommend customers install a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) to ensure continuous operation. Alternatively, customers with a cell phone can take advantage of the free simultaneous ring feature that will automatically simultaneously ring other phone numbers ensuring you never miss a call.
